Activities
Maternal and child health awareness.
Nutrition gardens and millet‑based diets.
Growth monitoring & adolescent SRH education.
HIV/AIDS prevention, STI management, and peer‑led outreach.
Convergence with NHM health services (ASHA, AWW, ANM).
Backyard nutrition gardens for vulnerable households.
Training on nutrition‑sensitive agriculture and organic farming.
IRDMS interventions combined nutrition‑sensitive agriculture with public health initiatives.
OPELIP improved food diversity through nutrition gardens, while NHM/NACO‑supported TI projects
addressed HIV/AIDS, STI care, and adolescent health. Through awareness, counselling, and community
outreach, IRDMS significantly improved maternal, child, and community health indicators in
vulnerable districts.
By promoting backyard nutrition gardens and organic farming practices under the CSR initiative
funded by MGM Minerals Ltd., Institute of Rural Development and Management Studies
(IRDMS) strengthened household nutrition security, women‑led livelihoods, and sustainable
agriculture in mining‑affected villages of Koida Block, Sundargarh district. The intervention
improved access to fresh vegetables, enhanced soil fertility through organic composting, reduced
household expenditure on food, and promoted climate‑resilient and environmentally sustainable
rural development practices.
