IRDMS implemented OTELP in Nabarangpur district with the objective of empowering marginalized tribal communities through integrated livelihood enhancement and natural resource management. The program focused on capacity building of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Village Development Committees (VDCs), promoting crop diversification, livestock development, nutrition gardens, and micro-enterprise promotion. These interventions aimed to improve food security, increase incomes, and enhance asset ownership among tribal households. Participatory approaches and community mobilization were key to ensuring sustainability and local ownership

Watershed and Natural Resource Management Projects Supported by NABARD

In partnership with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), IRDMS implemented large-scale watershed development initiatives in Nabarangpur. These projects aimed at soil and water conservation, afforestation, land treatment, and sustainable agricultural practices. The watershed interventions included contour bunding, check dams, farm ponds, and reforestation activities designed to restore degraded land and enhance groundwater recharge. Participatory irrigation management was promoted through strengthening of local water governance bodies like Pani Panchayats and Water User Associations. These efforts resulted in improved natural resource base, increased agricultural productivity, enhanced rural livelihoods, and strengthened climate resilience in the district.
