Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture (OIIPCRA):

In Ganjam district, IRDMS has been actively implementing the Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture (OIIPCRA), a flagship initiative supported by the World Bank and the Department of Water Resources, Government of Odisha. The project focuses on promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices through the adoption of solar-powered irrigation systems, farm mechanization, integrated crop and water management, and water-use efficiency measures. By strengthening Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and enhancing value chain linkages, the programme aims to improve farm productivity, increase income levels, and build resilience against climate variability.

Comprehensive Rice Fallow Management Programme ( CRFM)

IRDMS implements the CRFM interventions in Ganjam district, supported by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha. Central to these efforts is the Comprehensive Rice Fallow Management Programme, which aims to optimize the use of rice fallow lands through sustainable and adaptive agricultural practices. The programme promotes diversified cropping systems that utilize residual moisture in rice fallows, thereby increasing cropping intensity and enhancing farm productivity. Key focus areas include soil health improvement through integrated nutrient management, adoption of climate-smart water conservation techniques, and integrated pest and disease management to reduce crop losses. Capacity building of farmers is a core component, empowering them with knowledge and skills to implement resilient and sustainable farming practices. By fostering the adoption of climate-smart technologies and optimizing fallow land utilization, IRDMS’s CRFM initiatives contribute significantly to improving agricultural sustainability, ensuring food security, and enhancing the livelihoods of farming communities in Ganjam district. .
