Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture (OIIPCRA)

IRDMS implements OIIPCRA to promote climate-resilient agricultural practices by enhancing water security and efficient irrigation in targeted districts. Supported by the World Bank and the Department of Water Resources, Government of Odisha, the programme introduces solar-powered irrigation systems, promotes integrated crop and water management, and facilitates farm mechanization. Strengthening Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and enhancing market linkages are key components, aimed at increasing productivity, farm incomes, and resilience against climate variability..

Watershed Development under Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) with OWDM Support

Parallel to OIIPCRA, IRDMS implements large-scale watershed development initiatives under IWMP with technical and financial support from the Odisha Water and Disaster Management Department (OWDM). These projects focus on restoring degraded landscapes through soil and water conservation measures such as contour bunding, check dams, farm ponds, and afforestation. The programme promotes participatory water management by empowering local institutions like Pani Panchayats and Water User Associations (WUAs), ensuring sustainable and equitable irrigation water use. Together, these integrated interventions under OIIPCRA and IWMP contribute to enhancing agricultural productivity, conserving natural resources, and building the climate resilience of rural communities .

Skill Training Initiatives under NUA – OSDA

Fish Seed Grower Training

This programme provides participants with hands-on knowledge and skills in fish seed production, including breeding techniques, broodstock management, and fry collection. Trainees learn to ensure quality seed production, essential for successful aquaculture practices. This training enables participants to contribute effectively to fish farming operations and allied livelihood opportunities.

Hatchery Production Worker Training

Focused on hatchery operations, this training equips participants with practical skills in managing hatchery infrastructure, water quality maintenance, feeding protocols, and disease management. The programme prepares trainees to work efficiently in fish hatcheries, supporting the production of healthy fish seeds for sustainable aquaculture.

These skill training initiatives are funded under the Nutana Unnata Abhilasha (NUA) by the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) and aim to diversify rural livelihoods, enhance employability, and strengthen economic resilience within the community.
